Simon Loscertales Bona was one of Europe's premier furniture makers and a legend and standard bearer of the trade. From 1890 to 1980 his firm created fine furniture for a discerning clientele including commissions from the Spanish Royal Family and other dignitaries. His pieces continue to be highly valued and coveted by collectors today. This mahogany coffee table with nesting trays is a marvelous example of Bona's clever designs and meticulous craftsmanship.
Made of mahogany, the beautifully hand-rubbed finish highlights the wood's grain. Carved molding forms a lip about the perimeter of the table. Four similarly formed nesting trays slide seamlessly beneath the central table resulting in a compact unit when closed and providing additional surface space for tea and snacks when the nesting trays are employed. It is at once both glamorous and practical.
In excellent vintage condition. Structurally sound; well maintained original finish. There is one area on the central table with superficial scratches and dings that are barely noticeable.
